there are about 4 levels of play, solitary, parallel, associative and co-operative. If a child fluctuates between parallel and associative on an adult led activity but chooses not to play at all and just sit away from the other children in free choice and home would you say the child had a problem.

I would say it was worth investigating yes. Disinterest in peers is definately something to explore.

maybe I should of added he is 9 and downs, severe learning among others.
