ADHD, ODD and periods (TMI)

My dd is 13 ADHD, ODD and has some sensory issues. A few month ago she started her periods and have noticed her sanitary towels are not being used and her knickers are covered. She mustn't be on long or heavy as there's only a few pair and maybe pj's that have been hit.
However Iv'e tried telling her it's important to wear protection. This went on deaf ears so my sister (secondary school teacher) has also had a go. To find she doesn't like the feel of the bulkiness....they are very thin. She also doesn't like the feel of tampons. Any idea what to do. TIA.

There are a few online shops that sell cloth washable pads. I don't know if they are something you'd consider. They can be fleece topped, or velour topped or anything really. They can be made as thin as disposable pads, and feel much comfier and softer.

These companies sell them:

These minki ones are particularly thin and comfy.

I would make her wash with the soiled clothes, first soaking them in cold salted water. Make sure you have a mattress protector on the bed and if she soils that get her to wash it too.

How do you make her do the washing if she doesn't want to? Loss of privileges such as tv and computer access do it for my dds.

Every one has some accidental bloodstaining from time to time so the skills she will learn are necessary ones.

If she says but I have to have computer access to do my homework, tell her she can use the computers at school or the public library, but insist she must deal with her own mess.

If she does the laundry but still won't use sanitary protection, give it time.
