Nasty plastic nappies not good enough

Hi, First time user so please excuse any goofs! My DS is 6 and is struggling in Pampers size 6. I finally got an assessment done and after months of chasing i have been sent some horrid plastic coated nappies that rustle and make my DS sweat and itch. I came across a thread talking about Libero nappies and i have found them on the internet but does anyone know how i persuade my PCT to let me have them. DS has ASD amongst other things and he just wont tolerate them.

Oh, I'm with you. Up at 3am changing leaking nappy and soggy bed. 14 year old in rubbish nappies = no fun at all. why can't they make them to the specification of really good baby nappies, just big?

i told our pct that those horrid plastic ones made ds's eczema bad so they gave us libero! if you happen to be in nottinghamshire or near banbury (as im going there on sunday to visit a relative) i have a spare pack of libero 7's you can have and then maybe tell the pct person that someone gave you a pack and they are perfect could they do those?! we must be lucky as health visitor we had before we moved house bargained us 5 a day!!!!!

We had the nasty cheap ones for a bit. After lots of harrassment persuasion they changed and now we have Euron which are a bit better.

I just kept asking politely. We too have had good Inco nurses who do help and try to get us the right things. Maybe I looked so harassed, they took pity on me!

Good luck!

The whole 'nappy' had disintergrated this morning and he was wet and uncomfortable and he does get eczema - he was soooooooooo itchy and i just wont let him suffer in those awful, awful things. As a matter of fact i'm in Lincs so happy to pop to Notts if i can do anything to move this whole problem on BTW feels like I'm amongst friends. Hope you all don't mind that, me being a newby.

tell them she is allergic to them and ask them to send you out samples of others to try and pick the one you like - it sounds simple but probably won't be it will take a while but it is worth it - we get tenas now.

Molicare?

Yeah, we get those. Tbh DD1 is OK with them. But she's a really light wee-er, and not particularly active. I can imagine most kids having real problems.

bump for tootle2

wraith · 02/06/2010 00:47

there is actually a physical reason adult and youth nappies are the way they are and its to do with the maximum size an absorbent pad can be before it breaks down under its own weight.

causing clumping leaking chaffing and other fun things an inco has to deal with

you can however order the liberos from

www.bmsupplies.co.uk/p-739-libero-size-7-childrens-incontinence-diapers.aspx

but go with the advice given plead exema or chaffing leaks

unfortuntly some trusts wont change products for you
best of luck

kendell are horrible may as well be tesco value, they clump fall apart and are generally nasty as well as very expensive if you have to pay
