The preschool saga continues....

SENCO left last week.

Monday & Tuesday, the staff said DD had great sessions.

But, she has been saying she doesn't want to go (she has never done that before) and today, was insistent that she wanted Mummy to stay. Preschool strongly suggested that I didn't, although I could if I really wanted to. I went.

The outreach teacher from the special school visited, and the preshcool leader said that it was really very useful. But all the advice that was given has already been given by portage, so why is it only now preschool are receiving it??

I really don't know what to do about DD1. But Portage have been fantastic, and have arranged for her & the Area Inco to visit, and the advisory teacher. There are only 6 weeks, so hopefully they will get on top of it.

do you think she's missing the SENCO? I can see it's troubling that the pre-school leader doesn't seem to have taken in/seriously what portage said. Given there's plenty of support coming in for the last 6 weeks (and am sure you desperately need the few hours break, given lack of other SS support), would just keep a careful eye but let her continue.

I don't know, TotalChaos. She has never mentioned the SENCO at all. But whenever the SENCO had been away and come back she used to run and give her a bear-hug. That's how I knew she loved her. Not by words, by actions.

Now she is gone, DD1 doesn't say anything about it. Not asking where she is, nothing. But she is now consistently saying either that she doesn't want to go to preschool (Monday and today) or she wants Mummy to stay with her (Tuesday and Thursday). Today she came running over and clung to my leg crying, something she has Never done in the 2 years she has been there.

Preschool say that she's playing me (not in those exact words). But there is something up. She is coming out of preschool with stickers every day, which never used to happen. They say she is doing great this week, yet before the SENCO left I was getting negative reports (not from the SENCO) nearly every day
