Hi there,
Would anyone be able to give me some personal experiences about Woodlands School Harrow/Edgeware please? I've read all the reports (Ofsted-all outstanding) and I know its very well equipped.I'm looking a for a more personal experience. Are they the type of school that would go that extra step to bring-out the optimum potential in a special needs child? Any personal experience from a parent would be immensely helpful. My child, 3+, has severe learning/physical disabilities, and I'm terrified will be just stuck in a chair with a a couple of kids on too many 'group sessions' . Please help if you can.

Thanks so much.

Go and have a look. Watch for kids who are similar to your son, and check out how well they are stimilated and learning. And check out the local groups eg mencap, nas branch, scope, special needs playschemes as they will have members with experience of the school. the trouble with special schools is that a lot of the kids come by bus so just popping into the school around 9am or 3pm doesn't work as well as with mainstream in terms of contacting other parents for an informal lowdown

I have some professional knowledge of Wooodlands and have very positive opinions of it, but I am not a parent of a child that goes there. The students seem to be very well supportd and happy. The head teacher and leadership team are very child-centred.
Mariagoretti has given you some good advice about finding other parents with kids there. Kids Can Achieve in Pinner Green may also be able to ppout you in contact with parent groups.

hope this helps. Good luck!

Many thanks for your comments electricslide. I havent met any parents yet. But, it seems to be a very good school as all things I've heard about the school are very positive.

Hi,

I am the Dad of a Pupil going to Woodlands School, Harrow. I would like to know if we have any childminder associated with Woodlands school who can pick up my son after school for a couple of hours.

Looking for a start with the childminding arrangement very soon.

Best Regards.
