DD2 has her asssessment on the 21st June with same pead that see our DD1, who has HFA. Now we are waiting on SALT atm and she's not at preschool as we pulled her out because she kept hitting the other kids when they got close (she was only just 2 at the time)
Now Special needs HV has been to see her and observed her hand flapping, repetative play, echoing speech and not being bothered when other children came to play (as in no response and walking off). She has said she will come so its not just me feeding back this behaviour, which is great.

DD1 was a late dx at 6, and DD2 is not even 3 yet. Im not fussed if we dont get dx on first assessment but wondering if it was possibke i would rather prepare myself, does that make sense? tia

you ok SLM?? email me if you like
I know i should push for a dx early if she has asd, but some days i think she cant possiability and other days i stand and watch her echo me and hand flap and just sigh. Its hard because i know people think im nuts and she's fine and im looking for it, but 3 different proffessionals have seen her and said they think theres a likely chance
She'll be 2 year 9 month at time of appointment

We didn't get a dx until a year after we started the ball rolling with dd2 although ASD was mentioned at the first appointment. I didn't really bother me as i knew she has ASD as her sister already had a dx of AS. We still only have a dx of ASD although we suspect she is HFA, the pead doesn't want to say where she is on the spectrum as she is still changing and improving (she's 4.3).

Good luck, i hope you manage to get a DX.

Actually we did..the community paed said "I have no doubt she has autism"..over a year ago, since then we have been told by one neurologist she "definitely doesn't have ASD" and by another that she "presents with symptoms of ASD but is quite different".

Seems to change depending on what mood she is in. SALT said she'd be "incredibly surprised" if we came home from clinic without a diagnosis...and we didn't.

Wondering if she will get one at her appt on Tuesday but the neuro who said she definitely didn't have it is there so maybe not.

My DD is complicated though. Hope it is more straightforward for you!

With ds 2yrs 6mths at first appointment with paed he asked me what I thought was wrong and agreed when I said autism and ordered an MDA that day.
With dd 17 months he ordered a chromosome screen because of sudden regression and also an MDA to screen for autism because of presenting difficulties, family history and regression.
From their first appointments autism was mentioned and I was under no illusion that that was what was expected and the MDA was to confirm the paeds initial thoughts tbh
