Thought was going to well me and LEA both agreed on which unit ds needed to attend panel agreed to name the unit and did .

When had meeting previous i told them ds will need ot input but as his last one was chocolate teapot she not even done report etc stating that he needs input for both gross and fine motor

Unit have come back to Lea saying yes from a speech point of view they would love to have him but they wont take him less ds hasregular ot input for both fine and gross motor and that he requires top up funding for extra support on his gross and fine motor skills to .

Now lea are saying they will look at this again and maybe see about ot assesment

Ds ues a wheelcahir wears afos , has fine skills for picking up but does not have the strenth for writing grip or for cutting things with knife and fork , he uses 2 hands when he is cutting and then food needs be soft .Being fair to lea this was not in last statement as previous ot useless

But not sure where that leaves us now with placement , final statement due out july time

Sounds as though the unit are just trying to get as much from the LA as they can. LA have said they will look at it again. At this stage it doesn't sound as though you need to look for another placement.

Thing is they are right ds will need the input of Ot for both fine and gross as well as some fancy equipment , blast taht dam boy hes not happy enough to sit in one little box

None of the other speech units would touch ds just on his speech alone and they said that to me and the Lea and everyone agrees ds is not suitable for SS but he would not get the intensive speech support he needs in ms

try not to worry too much, sounds like unit are doing the sensible thing - as after all once DS has started at the unit it will be harder for them to say more funding is vital.
