Hi,
I am wondering if anyone knows who would have a list of alternative therapists in my local area that deal with kids with special needs.

I have rung some but they don't see kids only adults because they need checks with the police to be able to see kids.

I rang the council but they don't keep details of private therapists.

Is it just a case of telephoning them all and asking?

Thanks

HealthyPages may be useful

Look in the directory then search in your area or using keywords such as children.

I am a complementary therapist who works specifically with children with special needs. I provide Sensory Aromatherapy and massage sessions.

I had to have Enhanced CRB check before I could work with children. I think that is the 'police' check you mention.

Also a parent or guardian has to stay with them during treatment.

Try the Complementary Therapists Association,
ctha.com
They have a search index of therapists all of which have recognised qualifications and insurance.

Where in the country are you?
What therapies are you looking for?

Regards

I am on the Isle of Wight.

My daughter has Autism and the Educational Psychologist mentioned that some special schools have aromatherapists that can help to calm the children down.

I thought I would give it a try but cannot find anyone here who specialises in it.

Where are you Chickpeas?

Oh, I am a bit far away from you, I am in Pontypridd, South Wales, a bit far for a home visit! LOL.

There must be someone down there. Do you have a Carers Association locally, they might have a list of services available.
