Hello all you lovely Mumsnetters!

I am a Social work student who is also a long time reader of this forum!

I am currently doing some research into children with visual impairments, looking specifically at children with additional needs and am wondering if anyone would mind answering a few questions?.

All the answers would be kept completely confidential and the aim is to find out how to improve the dreaded social services!

Thankyou so much for your time.

Chloe

Hi I work as an LSA with a child with VI if that helps, will be happy to answer any Q.

Erm, don't you have to go through MNHQ for that?

I've already answered something on this (some time ago) for a project by Moorfields (or a researcher wkg there) - have you approached them or a similar hospital to see whether you could access some of the stuff they have? - it might be a very good starting point.

SaliMali- Thanks, would it be ok if I sent you a short questionaire?

Bellissima- Thankyou, I have contacted Moorfields and am hoping to get some info from them, though its sometimes hard to get people to respond! (im not sure about mnhq!, I hope its ok to post on here!)

Well I'd answer your survey but I think my responses would skew your results

I honestly would love to hear whatever anyone has to say, no matter how ranty! I work very closely with parents of children with various disabilities and know how wrong things can go for children and their families.

No believe me

You do not want to hear about a little girl who went effectively blind 12 weeks ago & NO TESTS/SCANS or anything have been done

SaliMali1 · 19/05/2010 17:31

I am especially interested in the perspectives of children with additional needs/disabilities as I have found this is an under researched area.
