Ds is not interested in toys, other than lining up cars, Lego or drawing.

The last couple of weeks, he has been using my mobile phone to take pictures and seems very interested in this.

I have seen a couple of kids cameras in Argos, which are £50.

Any recommendations, he is 6?

Claw - I have the Vtech kiddizoom. I wouldn't recommend it really. All the kids on our street have it, including DS2, and ALL of them spent the first year of ownership just playing on the computer game that stupidly comes with it. I was really annoyed, as you can imagine, abou tDs2 just playing the games - it became a step backwards.

If I was doing it again, I would buy a second hand adult camera on Ebay - I would definitely avoid any camera that has multiple options/games.

I wouldn't go for a kids camera either. I bought DD a canon digital camera when she was 6, and it is still going strong after 4 years of use. It is simple point/click, and seems to withstand knocks OK.

Lingle, i saw the Vtech one in Argos and thought the same thing, ds would just play the games.

I wanted something really basic, a digital camera for ds to upload to PC, with big buttons and can withstand a knock or two.

Mary - how much was yours? I dont mind spending money on something that i know ds will use, but wanted to keep it cheap for his first, just in case he loses interest as he often does.

I paid about £50 for it.

Thanks and your ds is still using 4 years later, so hopefully something that ds wont lose interest in after a week.

I will get him one and look forward to the flattering shots of up my nose etc!

Thank you for the link Trace, definitely need to get one for ds, he is filling up the memory on my phone. They have some cheap ones there, which would do ds to get him started (he does lose things easily)

well ds is interested in taking pics but we got the one which is now 45 but he only uses it when we go to zoo and so on, but other times hes not that bothered about it and we was not sure how it would pan out with it, i would go for cheaper one and if he gets really interested and learns from it get him a better one later , if they had the cheaper one when we looked i would have done that as he only uses now and again now. but you never know he might really like it, sorry carnt help that much!

Thanks Trace, you have been a help, id forgotten that Asda do electrical stuff. Im going to pop down there when i pick ds up from school.

His birthday has only just passed, why couldnt he have shown an interest a few weeks ago!

Im always stuck for things to buy him for birthdays and Christmas.
