My son has cerebral palsy and is 16 this year. We have been told that he will have to stay on at school till he is 19 which he does not really want to do. However we have now been told that Staffordshire county council will no longer fund residential colleges out of county. There are no suitable colleges for him in Staffordshire Does anyone have any information on this

Post 19 used to be funded by the learning & skills council which were disbanded last year and haven't been replaced yet.3 years was funded by them but it could be accessed earlier than 19 within certain guidelines. Now it's all dependant on whether your council will pay or not. Ss here doesn't although you may talk them into a contribution.

So no idea how it works for you!
