Bloody hell, I have been saying the MM thing since DS was newborn. Just short of three years old he has finally said it back! This is of course after, "apple", "bottle" and "cake", naturally...

In the last few weeks he had started pointing at and asking for things rather than labelling them. I am so pleased that he has started to use words for meaningful communication.

"Mummy Milk" is extra special to me, perhaps because it is something he has always had for so long, the fact that he thought of verbalising that brings means that he really gets the concept of asking / demanding? Or am I being overly optimistic?

Thats great, i don't think you are being optimistic at all, dd2 started with asking for a biscuit (after us trying to get her to say it for over a year), she's now asking for lots of things (food, toys, nappy change), it sounds like he's doing really well.
