Report from feeding clinic

The report from feeding clinic after our first appointment has just been delivered. It sums up what was said and ds's difficulties very well.

Other than it does state 'His mother has had an EP assessment, which revealed that he has a learning profile within normal limits. In fact, he is described as being gifted but his skills are quite patchy so it would be difficult to ascertain what his exact profile is. (all good up to this point) It does appear that his attainment has been lower in the past but, with support in the classroom, this has improved'

The last paragraph is not quite correct. Ds was previously able to focus in the classroom, this has regressed and he now requires a high level of support in the class room for him to be able to maintain focus.

No doubt the LA will overlook the rest of the very good report and focus on that one paragraph 'with support, this has improved'.

Should i ask for that paragraph to be amended? Although his academic achievement is not really the issue, its his self care, social communication skills, sensory skills that are the problem.

Yes, you should always ask in writing for erroneous information to be corrected.

My reaction is - what on earth is a feeding clinic doing bothering about his academic achievement? It's irrelevant . He easts / does nto eat - fullstop.

I wish these so-called 'professionals' would stick to their remit and stop trifling in things that don't concern them.

Feeding clinic work as a team of 5, 4 professionals were at the appointment. 2 sensory trained OT's, 1 SALT, Dietitian and Consultant Paed in Neurodisability (Dietitian wasnt at appointment)

So they supposedly cover most things. First impression, they seem very efficient, within 2 weeks of first appointment, OT has already done a home visit and school visit and i received their report this morning. After home visit OT was much on side.

The OT went into school on Thursday, next day ds with letter in his bag seeking my permission for EP assessment. I wonder if this was a coincidence.

Ive already written and posted letter, i suppose i already knew i had to, just so fed up with having to correct every last little thing!
