Can someone please explain it all to me in detail?

My ds starts school in September, and after a TAC meeting, school filled in a CAF form and applied for help for Sept.

So far i have received a letter saying a hearing would take place on 23rd April, and i have done and sent off the parental response side of things.

We went to see the paed today, who said i have news ds has a statement, but he can't have yet as the hearing was only last week...i am totally confused so could someone please tell me exactly how it all works? i would really appreciate it.

it sounds to me like you are through the first hurdle. first either you, the school or anyone else as i understand it though someone else may come and say im wrong (im not that up on things so its possible!!) but the first step we had wa applying for an assessment for statement. then they ask opinions of a few people and decide whether to assess at a meeting. then if they decide to proceed then more opinions are sought etc and the statement is either written, or they issue a note in lieu saying they wont currently statement but you can reapply in 6 months i think and go straight back to that point, though im not sure on things so i think they have agreed first bit for you and now they are going to do the proper assessment (ie gather loads more in depth reports etc!)

though someone may come and correct me!?
