I am writing about my 11 year old daughter, she is statemented with SN, she has global developmental delay and suspected autistic spectrum disorder, she has speech impairment although mild now, she has moderate learning difficulties and challenging behaviour, when she was born she suffered from epilepsy which was several times a day, upon a brain scan it showed loss of volume on the right side of her brain, unsure as to what this is or what has caused this, i suspect its from the seizures. anyway she is now 11 as mentioned above, she is a very happy go lucky little girl, but she gets severe mood changes where she becomes aggresive and very verbal, and is hard to manage as she has gotten bigger and stronger, anyway she attends a mainstream middle school, but is due to go up to high school in september, now her behaviour at school is becoming unmanageable, where the school has phoned me to tell me about her aggresive behaviour, today was no exception, i was asked to go up to try and calm her down, she ran out of school and was refuseing to go back inside shouting abuse at the teachers, i tried to talk to her but got no where, i had to physicaly carry her back into the school, and into the heads office, where Jade was lashing out at me and shouting nasty things out to the head other teacher present, nothing calmed her down, she was determined she wanted to go home, anyway she is not to go on any school trips unless i go along with them , which is not always possible, what i want to know is, what should the school be doing in safe gaurding my daughter whilst in school, whose responsibility is she when at school? we have an annual review meeting coming up soon, idealy i would like her to be in special ed now, but how can i get this into action, i have been fighting for 11 years now, but with no luck, please any advice anyone has i would love to hear it.
Many thanks from one frustrated mum x
