Seizures?

Still awaiting results of DDs 2nd EEG.

However I have noticed certain things happen regularly.

This morning she has twice suddenly closed her eyes and stopped moving. When she opened them she seemed really tired and came for a cuddle, and was very clingy and a bit bewildered.

About once a week I have also been noticing her staring and blinking, often smacking her lips, which is also then followed by the same clingy tiredness.

Does this sound familiar to anyone??

TIA.

That is my feeling, that she is having them.

No idea when we will get the results...had MRI etc on 10th March and EEG and evoked potential tests on 25th March.

So it is looking more like LKS I suppose...hope we get the results soon as it has been almost a year with no treatment now so her development is suffering.

Yes her language regressed, she cannot read apart from a few letters (she is only 3.5). She had very good clear speech until about 2.9 then it became totally slurred and unclear and is still very poor. She is currently being investigated for epilepsy/LKS or metabolic illness.

They were thinking it was more likely to be a metabolic condition though, but I don't think so as she is physically progressing well and quickly.

Hope you get the results soon so you have some answers. As Riven says, epilepsy is shit

Three weeks on Monday until DS starts his ketogenic diet. Can't wait - he's so bad again with his absences/non convulsive status. Only been to school 3 days since Christmas

Sorry he is still going through such a rough patch, I hope the diet works for him, I have heard great things about it!! (it sounds the opposite of the only things DD will eat but she might need it one day I think!)

Hi Fanjo - fwiw lip smacking can be part of an absence. As can (apparently) randomly plucking at your clothes. So it may only be simple partial. Or what DD1's neuro calls an "atypical absence" the E jargon changes faster these days than I can keep up with it.

Which metabolic condition were you thinking? DD1 has one though it's unrelated to the E.

They haven't told us which one they are testing for, so I don't know.
