we have just been awarded £500 for a new washing machine. Paperwork says it will be on a card for comet and it can only be used to purchase a washing machine with 5 year guarentee! this is great but we applied for washer and tumbler and i can get both of these for just over £500 from comet inc the 5 year guarentee for washer..........are we allowed to purchase the tumble dryer and pay the difference? On the site it just says it has to be used to buy what it was given for and says nothing about any left over money!

Phone them & they will tell you if it is ok.

they do online orders Riven. some washing machines are free delivery at the moment......you have to buy 5 years cover for it too! lol

well we got £400 for days out, but I really needed it for a holiday, so am using it for that(well we will be out for days)
tbh I can't see the problem as you will be getting a better deal iynwim

i know 2shoes, we actually got £400 for holidays and £500 for washing machine. I feel very lucky to have got this. The £400 has actually paid for 2 weeks away this year, one in may and one in october all booked and paid for today and the comet card is due in a few weeks.
I feel bad because i would never spend so much on a washing machine. we normally replace every 2 years and spend £250 max on washer and dryer!
rang them today and they are going to look at our case. they did say whilst they have a policy about allowing us to add money they dont actually accept money back!!!!!!! they are going to review the tumble dryer request and let me know. We have to be careful as the letter states that comet will tell family fund exactly what we purchase and we are only allowed to buy what the money was awarded for!
