ds2 - "cake?"
me - "It's for after dinner."
ds2 - "it's morning they coming?"
me - "Yes, they'll be about half an hour." (my parents)
ds2 - "shall I get changed?"
me - "yes, that would be good."
ds goes upstairs
me - "X, X (husband) X"
X - "what?"
me - "I just had a conversation with y (ds2). A CONVERSATION!!!"
I then relayed the conversation. husband said it's brilliant then I started this thread to tell you lot!

I'm going to be telling EVERYONE!!

An actual 2-way conversation that went back and forth for several sentences.

I'm so excited I think I peed a bit.

Fantastic !! We are not at conversation stage yet but question answering without any visuals is getting better...so maybe one day if I can get the zimmer over to the computer, I will be reporting a conversation !

thanks.

And he is the boy that only a few years ago spoke not at all, was in nappies and the 'experts' were telling me did not answer to his name because he did not "understand the concept of names". So never give up hoping.

Did he have a conversation with them - No. He pretty much ignored them and just sat at the computer. Apart from telling them the present they brought him was horrible. (It was a gross thing you squeeze and a ball pops out of its head with blood and worms inside it. It scared him.) I was so embarrassed. He was just telling the truth though, I know, and they understood that. In fact when I told him off my mum asked me not to because she felt sorry for him. I said that if I had been so rude and ungrateful when I was a kid, I wouldn't have sat down for a week! She said yes, but it's different when you're a grandparent.

I am unable to make him understand that we say thank you very much, even if we don't like the gift.
