Can Ed Psychs dx ASD?

I just wondered whether Ed Psychs can dx ASD as Ds is supposed to be seeing one before end of summer.

No-Just consultant paeds/clinical psychs.

Our son's diagnosis was given by a Community Paed and an Ed Psych because our LA had made a rule that two different professionals had to make a diagnosis. It was because at one time diagnoses were being made on what they termed "the flimsiest of evidence".
They both spent time with him and us and then conferred before we went to a joint diagnosis meeting with both of them together.
Ed Psychs may not be able to give a diagnosis o their own but their input would be influential.
