DS1's battery operated toothbrush stopped working so he came up to me to complain saying 'Button On ! Button On!' in a frustrated way then he looked at me and said 'Battery'. It might not seem like much but for him to be able to sequence and verbalise the problem is quite a step forward ! ! I know I did not say battery so it's not echolalia.

Thats bloody brilliant-you boast away...well done DS-hard word as well!!

I had a great one the other day when I accidentally put DS in the bath with his socks on (end of a long day!) and DD laughed and called me a "silly billy" (apparently from her SLT, that one!) was so blown away as it was completely in context. Well done your DS1 for the toothbrush!

sounds like good logical reasoning cyber.

That's what I thought - He has never before shown that he has thought, unprompted, about a problem then communicated an answer !

good - wanted to make sure I was on the right lines before adding the following -

DS2's first exhibitions of unprompted logical reasoning were exactly the same thing - train not working - therefore - needs batteries. Cue: "train broken - where batteries?"

how exciting!
