ds2 does not meet the criterea

DS2 who has ASD (amongst other dx) & is in MS school does not meet the criterea for LEA autsim outreach.
The school have requested support from the team that are supposed to support children with autism in ms schools....guess what they say he doesn't qualify for their support.
School have asked why he doesn't qualify given that he has autism & is ion ms school & they have said someone will get back to her.

We are just starting on the education path with DS with ASD, it all seems a nightmare. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Hi, find out about you borough's policy regarding autism support. In some boroughs only children with statements qualify, in others children on sa+ do.

Very sorry to hear that. In my borough (Hillingdon) the ASD team have come to school a couple of times, even though he wasn't diagnosed yet.

Not sure how much they actually helped though...

I think I would contact the LEA or the ASD team and find out what's going on.

But also, probably don't expect too much with it, and keep on educating school yourself about what helps....

My DS's teacher went to visit an ASD unit for half a day, I think that helped...
