Clonidine - any other experience ?

Ds (10 with ASD/ADHD/MLD) has been put on Clonidine (low dose)- rather than increase the dose of his longstanding concerta. This is to try to reduce ( the axiety behind) some of his repetative behaviours such as chewing, licking and throat clearing. However after 2 very difficult weeks I see no improvement. In fact ds impulsiveness and behaviour generally is probably worse and the chewing and sore face just as bad.
Any one any experience? Is it too early to see change? Ds chronic constipation is playing up at present so the timing is bad but I worry about this medication if it is not helping.
TIA

We use clonidine in intensive care, when we try and wake patients up and they are aggressive, I have rarely found this works at all. but its just 'the thing to do ' so it wont change. No experience with children with ASD but didn't want your post to go un answered

Thanks Sneezecake. Interesting - if anything ds seems more physically rough and anxious than usual.
