DS2 is at MS school with full 1:1, and is very behind the other kids on his class. They are all reading, bringing home reading folders, and he can barely write the first letter in his name.

Every week, each year has a "school star" where the pupil who has worked the hardest gets a certificate and gets to wear the golden star.

Today, DS2's teacher pulled me to one side and told me that DS2 is getting the school star award at Fridays assembly . I was good though, and waited until I got to the car to have a little cry.

I am so proud of him, he is learning his letters and can recognise numbers. He might not be at the same level as the other kids in his class, but he must be doing something right to get the award.

Lovely, congratulations to your ds.

Do you get to go to assembly and see him collect his star?

Yes I'll be going, will have to take some tissues with me as well. I am such a soppy sod when it comes to anything he achieves.
