We have just moved and got a letter saying we would like to pop in and see you next week.ds is 4.8but has no school place yet due to waiting on new statement queries where ds will go
Should I. Bother with her. Ds was under salt, paed it physio etc but we got to wait for his notes to get here. For new referals just. Not sure if can be fussed with it bearing in mind ds age

It might speed up any new appointments and get you into the loop as to other groups which may be relevant locally. HV's are technically repsonsible for under 8's and arrange routine screenings such as sight and hearing.

Ah last one was for under 5.we was under specialist health. Vistor but never saw or herd from her.it's just the hassle of having to explain everything and the are you sure stuff again

give it a go in case she's any use. when we moved we had a really good one come out to us, the results of her developmental screen on DS came out similarly to the paed's results! sadly she was only covering tho. though IME really good HVs with SN tend to be few and far between, they do exist.

Give her a chance i did with my new hv when we moved and am so glad i did..she rushed thro appointments for portage, physio, paed, speech therapy for dd2 she also held a child in need meeting for us saying it was for dd2 but in fact she aimed it so socials ervices became aware of ds2 and ds3 and their needs and it worked we got respite from them quicker than we thought we would even tho it been awarded we still waiting for it to start lol..

She also got my 4 children with sn registered with disabilities database so they go on sn courses, play therapy sessions etc during school holidays i cant fault her one bit specially after having a terrible hv for 5 yrs previous x

yay! tbh I think if they are prepared to admit what they don't know then that's not a bad start iyswim. do they have SN hvs where you are now?

Phoenix4725 · 10/03/2010 19:15

Yes they do we had one in last area but she was so. Snowed under but as in her eyes was coping we never saw her bar once a year.

The chil devlopment team meet once a month to sore out referals and prioryu. She was planning fax ds stuff over as they meet this Friday and to make sure since he hAs no school placement that he is top of the list.also told me there's a brand new sensory room in there childrens centre just 3miles from mep

she sounds pretty much on the ball then! worth checking out the sensory room - when I took DS to a sensory room they had a binder outside with useful SN local information in it
