How often are your dc's IEP changed??

Other than when targets are finally reached.

DS had his first IEP written in May last year, in October it was reviewed and changed. One target 'the maintenance of eye contact' was dropped and replaced by 'develop and extand on play', the two others stayed the same 'learing to share' and 'listening for 2-3 key words'.

Not that DS has reached these targets yet but it will be 6 months soon since the IEP has been written and i was wondering how often IEPs are reviewed...once or twice a year???

Thanks.

The SEN Code of Practice says
"Ideally IEPs should be continually kept ?under review,? and in such circumstances there cannot simply be a ?fixed term? or a formal meeting for reviews. However IEPs should be
reviewed regularly and at least three times a year. Reviews need not be unduly formal, but parents? views on the child?s progress should be sought, and they should be consulted as part of the review process."

Code of Practice is here - you want page 43

Thank you for that info.

At ours there are usually two in the Autumn term and then once a term for the remaining two terms.

I would generally expect at least one review per term tbh.

Thanks Coppertop for reply.
Well it seems DS's IEP is due a review then...
But i doubt anything should or will be changed regarding the actual targets as he hasn't achieve them yet although i'd say he has made some progress with listening at home anyway, in the noisy nursery he still struggles.

My DC's primary- Once a year, usually when I have harangued the SenCo to death by leaving messages for her every day for 6 months, that a review should take place at least twice a year Have quoted SENCOP repeatedly. Gets me nowhere. I get the IEP when she sends it home in the bookbag, and she won't add/omit/edit ANY of my suggestions. I've been dealing with this bitchbag cow of a SenCo for 5 years so far with DD, and now have another 5 years to go with DS2. She is due to retire the year DS2 starts Y7. I hate her muchly. GRRRRRR. I may actually kill her after having had to deal with the same old BS from her for a full decade....

Loudlass, ...that's bad. I can see why you'll be glad to see the back of her! Not soon enough hey!

. Am still hoping the old battleaxe moo decides she's had enough of me annoying her and decides to take early retirement. Although when I found out when she was planning to retire, I was a bit as I thought she was already 110!
