didn't know where to post this, but wonder if anyone can help. I have ds who is asd and am trying to plan some interesting things for him to do for the easter hols. Alot of the things he has previously enjoyed he has outgrown, as he is 14. Has anyone got any suggestions of things they have found to do. I know Heathrow used to have a viewing window to watch planes, does anyone know if this still exists and if it is open to the public.

I think the visitors center has closed. There is always the RAF musuem in Wilsden, can see lots of planes there, plus get in some, etc. My ds loved it there.

I have watched the planes from the car park at heathrow (not sure if you still can).

Not sure, but have you been to Duxford, kids are free.

There is also a pub with a garden at the side of the runway at Gatwick - brilliant view!

My fav place is Portsmouth, ideally by train, not exactly free though, but lots of history. Another one would be Widsor/Eton just for walkabout around the town - inc the Long Walk to Windsor Great Park.

Some years during hols with my ds we went to check out various leisure centres around, mostly the ones with flumes (he did all the research where to go and how).

Where are you?

Last year I ended up going to a lot of churches. DS1 likes buildings and they were empty (and free!- although I did leave a donation each time :preen

Dp works at Heathrow and says there are no viewing area's anymore but you can see planes at "the academy" on Bath road?, where plane spotters go.

SingForJoy · 01/03/2010 22:32

Apparently it's a group of offices or summat, sorry I zoned out .

SingForJoy · 01/03/2010 22:33

But I can ask him for details (and pay attention lol) if you require.
