I'm new here although I've been reading the threads for a while.
My DS (2.11) is being assessed for ASD. We are at the very beginning of the process and wondered how long it took for a diagnosis. We are planning to move out of London by the end of the year and if we were in the middle of the process would notes get passed over or would we need to start over?
I've been through every emotion as I am convinced he is on the spectrum. Now I just want to get pro active. As a primary school teacher I know how difficult it is to get a statement for a child and how IEP's are nowhere near as good as a statement and 1-1's depend totally on the person giving it.It also concerns me how little mainstream teachers actually know about autism.I have taught children with autism in my class before and you have a basic understanding but when you have a child with ASD yourself you realise how each case is so completely different.
I guess I just wanted to share this as well as apart from my partner noone else seems to understand.
