My ds hated the noise of electrical equipment like hoovers, hairdryers - oh especially the electric carving knife!! He used to scream (in agony????)!!

This was very quiet

and it turned round {osscillated} as well as the fan spinning

they spin. ds1 likes anything that spins. Same as he likes angles (stairs windows etc). no idea why and he can't tell me unfortunately.

So your DS1 is sort of mesmerized by it or is it like he is trying to work out how it works?

Obviously if he can't tell you it is hard to know just wondered

Little boy I was with today seemed mesmorized by the fan

But he didn't say what he liked about it either

I suspect its sensory. - but no idea how he sees things. Know its different from normal but that's it. (some autistics can see dust particles etc so maybe they get swirled up or something).

He used to like looking at ceilings as a baby. Would happily look at a ceiling for half an hour or more-legs kicking.

When he was a toddler we used tom sya he liked looking at how things worked- but now I think he was just stimming and looking at angles.

it's not that dsa won't tell me- he can't- he can't talk. I think he likes washing lines for the angles, although he hates ours being up at the moment (too much? too good? so becomes unbearable? not sure but my guess).

dur ds1 not dsa

Ds2 is fascinated by anything that spins. I took him to a softplay centre when he was about 18 months old. He completely turned his back on the toys and spent most of the time watching a fan spinning. He has always loved watching the washing machine spinning too.

One summer when ds1 was younger we got one of those big fans (can't remember the proper name for them). All was well until the days started to get cooler and we tried to switch the fan off as it was no longer needed. The screaming meltdowns were horrendous.
