I was wondering that. Did you pull your thread about respite?

nightcat · 02/02/2010 20:45

riven, hope u are OK, I was thinking re your dd congestion, does she have dairy in her food mix? coz that would increase mucus.
Would she be able to have mashed up/liquidy kiwi/papaya? this could maybe help to clear mucus

Lauree · 02/02/2010 22:52

Hi Riven, hope all's well... ?

sorry to jump this thread but I was looking for you for some help,- when you can, to find a thread we both posted on a few days ago? about a course in miracles. Can't find it anywhere.

thanks,
x

sorry things are rough

nightcat · 03/02/2010 10:20

Riven, nothing wrong with dairy when she is OK, but is it poss to reduce some? or add some dairy-digesting enzymes to help and cut through mucus? Long time ago when I had sinusitis I naively thought that if I gave up dairy for 2-3 days it will clear, but it took much longer than that. The congestion would affect her oxygen if she finds it hard to breathe..

Also, I am reading this book Smart Moves (remember we talked about brushing etc), very interesting, I am going to step up on touch on my ds. The author says face, arms and legs, I am not going to worry too much at this stage about brushing but just increase touching.

nightcat · 03/02/2010 12:52

riven, don't give up
on congestion, if I were you, I would swap cows butter for goats butter for a change, also try out maybe small amounts of oil inst of cream(egavocado?), also nion is a natural decongestant (I usually let it run juice with small amount of honey, but others tried lightly sauteing it with small amt of oil, then just use liquid) eg.hereuse it with honey, but here natural decongestants
combination of above + drops should def help

nightcat · 03/02/2010 12:54

oops, what happened there?? I meant onion is a natural decongestant, avocado as in eg. avocado oil..

daisy5678 · 03/02/2010 13:07

Or the vapouriser that I suggested the other day on the thread that disappeared. Boots. £15. Definitely worth a try rather than messing with the diet.

don't worry about the no kiss, she is most likely on a wind up

OP posts:
nightcat · 03/02/2010 14:38

riven, she is prob not sensitive to dairy per se, but when we are run down/ill, the body conserves effort on autonomic functions and gets weak in other ares (like we go off foods when ill) and we tend to catch things one after the other when run down.
Onion juice is liquid, so shuld be no prob?
Have you tried contacting Matthew's Friends for ideas?
Whilst u are in town, try getting something suitable that has Zn in it, coz that should also help :-)

CardyMow · 03/02/2010 14:44

I have to say, a lot of it is probably due to the bastard swine Flu. Me and the DC's all had it in July, and since then, even DS1, who has the constitution of an ox, has been ill almost constantly. My GP says that even in someone with no additional health probs, SF can depress your immune system for at least 9 months. For someone with epilepsy (like me & DD) the constant cold after cold after cold is lowering our seizure thresholds. Dangerously in my count, as there's no more meds they can put me on, short of Keppra (on top of my Gaba).

The Keto is a bastard, as you can't have any fruit, and the huge amounts of dairy (IME, from my friend's DD who has LGS) does increase mucous production. It's the whole balance of side effects thing that runs through trying to deal with epilepsy though, isn't it? All dairy with Keto=increased mucous (horrid when with a cold), Too much meds=eveil side effects (in my case). (((HUGS))

Have you tried lifting one end of the bed? we have DS2's head end propped up with cookery books. Hope you feel better soon.

Riven

My DS as a very wide cleft palate (amoungst other issues) and spends the early hours of every single day wretching and vomiting the mucus back up that runs down his throat from his nose each night. He's only just 9 months but is now accustomed to it and wakes so I can support him in a sitting position to get it out. He has always been congested and the vaporiser from Boots will help I'm sure. I was at the end of my tether with it all until I used one. He used to have suction all through the night but now he vomits it all out - sorry TMI?

Anyway, hope you find it works. DS awake - need to go unhook him from his pump

CardyMow · 04/02/2010 15:24

Is there room in that corner for another? I'll sit behind you?
