school places and statements help please

ok i need some advice from you ladies.

We have moved from N>E Essex to WEst ESSEX with ds who has a 27hr statement .I had to travel back to Ne essex for a statement revire that was called prio to move as i had a lot of new information that would mean alteration to ds statement and was asking taht change was from ms to speech unit .

But othr than me contacting local sencan to me nothing is happening ,spoke to old sencan and they not even passes paperwork over to new team

How long do they have to pass it on , and how long does a a mened statement take to come out? and how long can they leave ds without a school placement?

arghhhhh can i scream sick of dealing with lea

no think will have ask for new one , since all we had was 2 cases of stuff.

just seems so slow and everyone passing buck not passing messages not returning calls and yet i am still within essex!!!

Hi, Sorry to hear you are having problems.

As I understand it the LEA in the area you live now have an obligation to find you a place or provide home tuition within 3 weeks.

I would try contacting IPSEA who have been absolutely brilliant with me in the past, giving advice on many different SEN legal issues.

we arestill in same Lea just not area gone from Ne essex to west essex.

wonder i they will try wriggle out as ds is not 5 till July even though he was already in full time education

I had the same problem moving within Essex LEA, and all I did was move from one side of my town to another! But because it was a different area (N. Col instead of S.Col), I still (5 years down the line) haven't got all the paperwork...at least the Secondary school are trying to chase it up for me...I hadn't even known that her file only started in the Nov of Y2 (when we moved here), because the primary SenCo never told me (!). As it's the same LEA, they can't change the provision, it's not a matter of funding even if they could do it in one town in their area. Good Luck!

ah see at ds last review i asked for S&l unit to replace mainstream and the S&l therpist agreed as did specialist teacher also ican wrote fantastic report to.

Thank you for the 3 week I mentioned that today to both sections of the Lea and all of a suddern the ball has started rolling and paperwork getting sent.To West essex.

ANd they did try saying well trouble is ds might only need 2-3 years in unit then intergrating into nearest priamy did laugh as pointed out ds will do 1/2 days in unit and rest in ms side with support and that anyway will be our nearest primary so ds will already know his peer group

And herts have all ready agreed keep ds at the unit if gets a place as its nearest S&l unit a space for ds and dd who goes in ms side as were so close to border
