Hi,

I have seen on another thread that you're from Bas.

I also reside within the area which is served (ahem) by Basildon LEA and have had dealings with them over the years with regards to my DS's statement.

They do not recognise dyslexia, you could well have a real fight on your hands if you want to get a Statement for your child. You will certainly need to be persistant with them and I would also suggest a visit to their HQ at The Knares if you are offered a meeting.

Thank you so much for that Attila - my DS is 7 and am just starting to appreciate the fight I have on my hands. Have just reduced my work hours to 16 a week so I have more time for the fight. Have been to The Knares and am going back in next week. I am jumping through hoops just to try and get a decision out of them regarding a Stautory Assessment - goalposts being moved right, left and centre.
