Draft letter for requesting a statement

Would anyone be kind enough to help me with a draft letter to approach my local council with, to ask for an assesment for a statement. He has ADHD, dyslexia, social and communication difficulties and social processing difficulties he is in year 4 and his learning ability is at a year 2 child

www.ipsea.org.uk is the website you need to use. Apart from having lots of information on it there are model letters you can use as well.

You will need to write to the Chief Education Officer at your LEA (the council offices should give you the name) and give them six weeks to reply. Mark that particular date on your calendar.

If they refuse to assess you can and must appeal their crass decision.

Yes, at this stage it is simply putting on record that you want a statutory assessment, and that you know they have to respond to your request. I used IPSEA's model letter for DD1.
