amending statement to move to Reception

Dd2 has statement in Nursery and we have just received the 'proposed amended statement' for her transition to fulltime in Sept. It actually looks identical to her original statment, just with the 6 month review paperwork attached to it. It still has the nursery level of hours stated in the provision section.
Getting ready for a fight, and just wondering if anyone else has any experience of this?
Also, we are getting an independent OT assessment done this month - do we just submit this along with our comments - do they have to accept it?
Thanks!

Sorry, not sure, my DS started reception in September having had a statement since nursery and we only received the proposed amended statement on Friday! However he did get in to a unit so all the extra support was provided there even though it was not formally put on paper. If your DD is going to mainstream I suspect support would not be in place anyway and you may need to get that sorted before hand.

Thanks hairymaclary (great name!) - can't believe you only got the paperwork now! Thought my LEA was bad!

Anyone else have any ideas? Just about to contact IPSEA

I would run it past IPSEA initially before accepting it (particularly with regards to Parts 2 and 3 as these are very important within the Statement) but on the surface at least they have not amended the statement to your DDs detriment.

Just to let you know as well, it will be rewritten yet again when she gets to the end of Y2 because of transfer to Junior School.

Thanks Attila.

We certainly have points to pick up about aspects in part 3 that need to be more specific.

Does the transfer also happen if it is a Primary school?

Anyone have any ideas about the submission of 'private' evidence - ie, not NHS? Do we have to justify why we sought independent advice?

I'd get further clarification from IPSEA on Part 3 before accepting it because once it is accepted that is likely the best you are going to get. You do not want vaguely worded provision, it should be and needs to be specific and quantified.

The statement is rewritten when a child moves from nursery to reception in Infants, it will also happen when the child is at the end of Y2 when they go to Juniors and again at the end of Y6 when they transfer to secondary. This is also because a new school is named each time.

Some LEAs are not known to be fully accepting of private based reports and can dismiss them.

thanks attila - have had a chat with IPSEA now and think we have a gameplan sorted!
