Dd2 ASD Spitting

Dd2 has started (in the past couple of days) spitting her drink out on the floor , she has her drink in a non-spill cup on the table, she takes a mouth full, runs of and spits it onto the floor (which she thinks is funny), i have now restricted her to only having drinks at the table at meal and snack times but she still stores it in her mouth until she's on the floor and spits it out.

I have also tried getting her to clean it up but she thought it was great fun. Her understanding is not great but i'm sure she understands 'no' as she looks up and grins at me.

I'm fed up with all the puddles on the floor, dd1 has slipped up twice on the floor and i have to mop every 10 minutes.

Is it a sensory thing or is she just testing me?

She's also been taking her clothes and nappy off all day so even more puddles on the floor .

You need towork out whats going on before you can get anywhere- sensory, testing, copied behaviour, a stim......

try a doidy cup perhaps? Worked well with ds3 and his concentration to use it seemed to stop him spitting, plus differenet textured drinks- smoothies maybe that are thick, or warm drinks etc,and modifying your responses (one thing at a time) to get to the bottom of it.

I think it may be a mixture of sensory and being naughty, she swishes it around in her mouth before spitting it out. You are rite about the attention ,the more i shout the bigger her grin gets .
