ds1 (3.5) has just started in a special communication group at nursery and the staff there are great and always let me know what he has done that day etc. But I dont want to keep pestering tham so I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of where I can find out what is "normal" for receptive language for his age so when I am told things like -today he was following 4 key word instructions. I dont have to look thick ask at what age should children be doing that? Obviously it is good for him as a few months ago I was speaking in 3 word sentences to him. his main difficulty is expressive language - making the sounds really. Also what sort of w word questions they should be answering if anyone knows where to look for this.

www.speech-language-therapy.com/devel2.htm

answers some of your questions, though doesn't directly answer the age/4 key word one.
