I had that massive meeting at the school today. I think I'm going to cry with relief. They told me that the reason DD's asd has not been taken into account is because it was only ever an 'informal dx' by her paediatrician when she was 4yo. The school are seeing how badly it's affecting her day to day, and are pushing for a 'formal' dx. (I didn't know there was a difference, I thought if the paed wrote down that she was asd that that was enough.) I have to go back next week to do a CAFFS? form, and it will be sent to CAMHS (which has apparently changed its name over christmas to something else, but it does the same job??). Also, they are currently giving her 11 hrs a week support on SA+ (which is more than I had thought). They are saying she needs more than that, so are going to start the statementing process.....I just want to cry with relief that after 8 years of fighting to try to get someone to listen to me that she needs more help, SOMEONE is willing to listen, help and DO, to get DD what she needs!!
