Respite at children's hospice

Our dd is shortly to start using our local children's hospice for respite for the rest of our family: mainly so we can go on holiday while she is at the hospice. She attends a mainstream secondary school. The respite time will cross over with school time. do any of you have experience as to whether schools, special or mainstream, are happy to allow this time off? Do I have to suggest that she receive work from the school while she is there or do I have to use any of the "educated off site" terminology? I am sure the hospice will help me on this but just wanted advice from the experts (that's you ...)

HI there,
I'm wondering why they wouldn't simply take her to school. I suppose it depends on what she wants from the week and you? I'm sure that when we attended our local hospice, the school children who were staying there during term time were simply taken to their school and picked up at the end of the day.
good luck

dd2 goes to hospice and the taxi collects here from there if its a school day, but some kids do stay there all day if it is appropriate to their learning, with an iep.

DD1 goes to school throughout, but transport is arranged by the LEA not the hospice. It all depends on how close to the school you are I think.

unfortunately we are 2 hrs drive from the hospice. Much appreciate your replies, thank you. Will ask hospice for their advice I think.
