And Again: Cold Weather Payments

I have seen the other threads that say we need to be on IS or other benefits to receive this Cold Weather Payment. But we don't receive anything other than DLA for DS and Carer's Allowance for me, yet I thought that I actualy received it last year. Have the rules changed?

i think the rules are the same but could last year have been the bonus winter £60 one off payment that everyone on DLA & Carers allowance got?
Cold weather payment is £25 i think?

It was announced (IIRC in a budget) that last wionters specialpayments for the disabled and carers wouldn't be repeated.

We get them anyway ATM but still a big boo.

BIG BOO!

What's changed. Are people suddenly less susceptible to the big freeze or have they all emigrated to warmer climate. OR does Gordon Brown see anything warmer than Scotland as positively tropical.

My ds's school was open this week but unable to take him as we weren't able to walk to the bus stop, due to pavements being frozen. Had to keep him home & house needed to be heated in rooms that I wouldn't normally have been using. Where I would normally have done the school run & then not been home for the rest of the day.

It was intended as a one off, I remember that at the time, but we all hoped for an extension (we didnt qualify for the £25 last year either). I guess there'sjust not enough money this year, due to people like us who have had bad luck with jobs in the alst year needing the extra help.

www.moneysavingexpert.com/
go here and on their forum is explanation of who gets £25 cold weather payments. Also postcode checker which tells how many episodes of very cold weather in your area. Have to be on other income related benefits to qualify.

I got one (because of my own, grown-ups DLA) that came through on Christmas eve, but I haven't had one since then, and if I'm not mistaken, I still have almost a foot of snow outside my front door, so how can it possibly have been under 0 at all in the last week or so??!!
