Weighted vest, your opinion please

Hello,
My OT's dd suggested purchasing a weighted frog to help my dd focus. She is 2.5 and I'm afraid it would be difficult to make sure she uses the frog correctly, and so I'm looking into buying a weighted vest.

I was wondering if anyone had used them with their dc, and if they saw positive, negative, or no results?

txs

Weighted blankets are not suitable for everyone, however the majority of people who use them, get some benefit out of them according to the feedback here:

I bought a weighted vest from Rompa for my son and only used it twice, It certainly stopped him rocking but a new set of problems presented themselves so we stopped using it!!!

Should you decide to try it for your dc you could have it very cheap!?

There is a very useful website called NHS evidence which looks at the evidence ofr different interventions.

The review concludes that they are not of much use.

NHS evidence

'The authors concluded that weighted vests were ineffective in remediating behaviour problems of children with autism spectrum disorders and other behavioural disabilities. Despite concerns about aspects of the review methods, the authors conclusions were appropriate given the limited and poor-quality evidence that was identified.'

I'd agree it's a subjective thing but I found a weighted vest to be quite useful - though it's not a miracle answer. DS1 does like and benefit from deep pressure and is a lot better than the sensory toys which just overstimulate him. They can be expensive though - I trialled it by putting weights in his pockets first.
