Am feeling really upset and quite cross. The Ed Physc was due to go into school to assess B tomorrow (appt was made about a month ago). I thought I would ring her up 2day to check what time we were having a meeting afterwards when she told me 'oh haven't school told you I am not able to see B tomorrow as I have to do an assement for a Statutory Statement on another child in the school'.!!!She told me the school knew last week - but of course no one has mentioned it to me!

I have agreed to still meet with her at the school - to start form filling but can't give me a date when she will in be to assess B.

Am really upset as I have been waiting and worrying about this visit and to be honest just want to get things moving for my son. On top of that am still waiting for the report from the Autism outreach teacher who observed B over a month ago (and eldest DS is also undergoing assement and hating it).

Any advice? please.. thanks

I completely understand your frustration! My dd was due to have Occupational Therapy today - we have to wait 6 months between appointments and she cancelled 10 minutes before she was due to arrive

It sounds like lack of communication through the school tbh - I would ask her to contact you directly in future if she has any difficulty with keeping appointments.

Hope you don't have to wait too long for your next appointment..

Apply for a statutory assessment if you haven't already? Ring the Autism Outreach teacher and ask if the report is ready yet.

scottie that was awful cancelling just before your OT was due. Its all endless waiting and feels like everyone plays god while we just hope those in charge turn up,ring back etc. Will def get her to contact me direct(if she wil) in future as school are pretty useless.
Wassup - am seriously thinking abou applying for statement now - going to find out what I need to do. Spoke to Autism Outreach teacher (lovely woman but over streached) and she told me she has been off sick and will be having a 'report writting day' soon'... (hmm)

IPSEA's website are very good at the whole statementing process and I would suggest you look at their website:-

www.ipsea.org.uk

You will personally need to write to the Chief Education Officer at your LEA and give them six weeks to reply.

Make the application yourself. This is because you then know its actually been done and importantly you have the right to appeal if the LEA say no. School have no right to appeal.
