DLA appeal

I sent the appeal in and they sent a letter stating they received on 6th Nov (phew! had to be in by 9th).

I was just wondering how long these things take?

I understand that an internal moderator takes another look first, to see if they dont have a leg to stand on and would lose at tribunal and therefore be cheaper just to alter the award rather than pay tribunal fees as well.

I also understand that the DM's can take anything from 2wks to 2yrs (my personal record was 22wks).

But i was wondering how long the appeal process sections usually take? ie length of time for internal moderator, length of time for appeal date, length of time of actual appeal? ANyone know?

we sent off the appeal form after reconsiderations were refused just before the summer holidays - cant remember dates, and then end spetember i rang them up in a strop because we still had heard nothing and had no tribunal date yet. was told on phone a decision letter was on its way they had changed their mind and awarded it. so about 2.5 months ish i think. big lesson learnt though, dont ring in a strop lol

It took about 6 weeks from me sending the letter to get a decision. Once i filled out form requesting a Tribunal, i heard from them about the date of Tribunal in about 2 weeks.

Attended Tribunal in October and it has been postponed until January 2010.

I first applied in February 2009, so it would have taken almost a year by January!

i should add i originally applied in january it was after asking thm to reonsider a few times that july brought the asking for appeal!

Did you get your award raised or was it from a flat refusal? sorry for questions..

How long does it normally take to get a response from DLA when you 1st apply?

misscutandstick · 24/11/2009 17:45

they will acknowledge that you have applied within about a week or so.

but after that it could be anything from 2wks to 2yrs!

they claim an average of 12wks, but mine have averaged out at about 17wks. Its a nice lump sum when it does arrive (if they decide to award!) but its extremely unlikely to arrive before xmas if you have only just applied sarah.

Hi
I was kinda of thinking that perhaps it took about 12 weeks....I sent an application via the online route....so was hoping for a response shortly just to confirm that they had received my email
thank you for your reply
