Ed psych Report - is it worth doing it now?

Need your views, my ds started at a specialist 6th Form and they wanted to see his Ed Psych report. It turns out that the last one was done when he was 4 and nothing since. Last secondary (dire when it comes to sn) seemed to have overlooked it, but he had 2 speech & lang assessments during that time and also one when he started at sixth form.
Is there a benefit of doing Ed Psych report now? What would we find out from it that we don't already know from a speech & lang report? Would there be any benefit to have it for his post-sixth form placement or education? Or does it only apply till 19 like the statement?

is he likely to go on to post-secondary ed? (apols, not sure re specific issues etc)
if he is likely to go on to post-secondary in some form, i would get it done. a university or college would find it helpful in determining extra support requirements etc.
otherwise, i wouldn't bother unless they are highlighting 'new' issues or anything you aren't already familiar with and have been dealing with for, like, ever....

DEFINITELY worth getting it done NOW. Really cannot over-emphasise this.

If he wants to continue to Higher education he will need an Ed Pysch report to support his application for Disabled Students Allownace - that's the allownace that wil provie additional support and equipment at Uni or HE.

They will accept any Ed Pysch report that was done after the age of 16.

If you don't have one thengetting DSA is much more difficult.

He won't make it to uni because of low academic ability, but we are hoping that he can do a post-19 college course; he is doing a vocational GCSE at the moment. Although the issues are not new and he does have a SEN, the result of his speech & lang report never made it to the formal part of the statement. He was going to have the ed psych report before leaving his last secondary at 16, but the school ovelooked it.

Ed psych report will help your son to access valuable support as he leaves school and moves into college/work. Hopefully, it will make the transition a little easier. Also, it will be much harder to get a decent assessment done once he has left school.
