Social stories

....following on from the school thread I posted, I asked about the social skills group DS will be in. They told me a supply teacher comes in and does social stories with them. I asked if they could let me know what topics were being covered or let me have copies of the social stories. They looked blankly at me. The teacehrs shows them pictures and they talk about feelings. They said they never write anything down

This isn't a social story is it? Is it usual for them to not write this down?

....i thought social skills work was more something along the lines of: let's pick a social topic, play out a situation and show /tell/demonstrate how to react appropriately to the situation, then chat/explain about it.

Maybe i'm wrong.
