son having neuro developmental assessment

hi all i am rather hoping someone could tell me what a neuro developmental assessment is? what they do? and whether it will be a series of appointments or just one? my 9 year old is in the process of assessment for autism and has been for a year now but it is all so slow. im trying to get some idea of how much longer it will take

a friend's son had this appt, she said it was 1 hr, didn't go into details, I don't think there was any follow up though (was dx as ASP)
