The Paed is at my sons school today to give an assesment.
I am very nervous about it, as I am every day when hes at school. But I guess its not knowing what to expect, what they are going to do etc.
I shall be soooo glad when this whole thing is over with tbh and I just hope my son is able to get the help he needs!

I didn't get to speak to her when I picked ds up is that right?! Presumed I'd get a low down or something but not a single word not even from his teacher!
Do they just send you a report or call you etc?! Feel very much in the dark :-(
He's got to go for genetic blood tests at the end of the month too the poor little lad!

I am not sure but someone else may know if thats standard practice. What are the genetic blood tests for? (excuse my ignorance)

MissBreezy · 05/10/2009 17:00

Not really sure myself tbh!
Hospital just said they are testing to look for things that might be causing ds to have these probs! Wasn't aware that ASD would show up in bloods etc?!

No I didn't know that either. Maybe someone else can enlighten us?!

cyberseraphim · 05/10/2009 17:56

We got blood tests for Fragile X and chromosonal abnormalites - I think is fairly standard. The results were clear for both. The letter said he was a 'typical male' in genetic terms !

waitingforgodot · 05/10/2009 18:06

thanks cyberseraphim.
Was this part of the diagnostic process?

MissBreezy · 05/10/2009 18:20

Oh right thanks!

DD got blood tests also for fragile x she has asd

cyberseraphim · 05/10/2009 19:23

For us it was not part of the dx process but we did not follow the standard route via the Child Development Centre but the tests were done shortly afterwards.
