Afo advce pleas

Ds now has it afos and they decided to go with fixed afo while they try prevent any frther damaage with hope that as he becomes stronger that we ca ngo to hinged ones in 12- 18 months.

but my qestion is how long didit takefor you dc to get used to walking in them.Ds did walk though not very far an rathe wobbly before hand so no problem agreei.g with the afos know eh needed but how long til he an walk in them he is moving like a robot and falling over even more than normal

My DS has had afo's since before he could walk but now he takes some steps and moves in and out of them without noticing. When we first started we were told to build up wearing time over about a week. Would that help?

Really ds shoul have had them before he started walking at2.6 butNhswent with piedros when he was 3 then they decide sswitch to afos but they beenmucking us around or 12 months plus now so we went to the Dorset ortopediac clinic ad they been reat

just left him t school he was so not himself just wanted pick him up bring him home and bin them but know he needs it but wahhhhhhhhh thats me not him

Like Riven, my dd2 has afo's but can't walk, but it does not stop her kicking and it really hurts when she gets me in the face!!!

Picked ds po been few tears but on whole he had good day kids were fighting to push his chair

My ds was given AFO's to wear at night in the hope that it would correct his feet which roll inwards (he has tight achilles tendons).

He hated wearing them and it kept him awake at night. Some time later, the physio admitted that there is no evidence that they work so we ditched them!

A similar story with Piedros, now swapped for regular trainers. He walks so much better and is no longer so uncomfortable!
