ds1 has started imitating

yesterday he took the baby's bottle out of the microwave and shook it, and today he put his foot in the same (wrong) place as mine on the wobble board (I was trying to steady it for him). He's never learned anything by demonstration before, only hand over hand.

I have a little theory about imitation and language/speech (kicking in once they discover imitation). Probably about to be proved wrong

God, that would be exciting. There's clearly some kind of seismic shift going on with him, isn't there? And I'm sure there have been several people who have said that their autistic child started to speak at 7, as if there's some kind of checkpoint at that age (one of your friend's sons who was on the TV program was like that I think?)

He was 5 I think........

I think he's just getting the right input at last (have I mentioned how wonderful his school is )
