We have sent off forms and had help from money advice unit to fill out, but she said there is no way of knowing what outcome would be.

How many of you have been successful in getting this?

They have turned down dh, so im not feeling too hopeful, plua with dh they took 11weeks to say no

ds1 gets middle rate and it only took 3 weeks but did include drs report with it so then didnt have to write to them. HTH

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 17/08/2009 14:02

I included school report, CDAC report and CAMHT report, do you think that would be enough?

OP posts:
sodit · 17/08/2009 14:41

you would think so but who knows with them. have you enclosed some blood, sweat and tears?

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 17/08/2009 14:43

well blood sweat and cancer didnt make them give it up for dh, so not sure it would help dd

oh i hope their quick, i hate waiting. CTC have4 stopped paying us anything atm, as they over paid 2 years ago (their fault but my word against theirs)

Send off the forms again for DH. If they are swamped then as a matter of course they deny a percentage of claims njust so they can get through the backlog. When you reapply they will look at it.

They deny they do this of course but it goes on as they know those who don't really qualify but are trying to pull a fast one won't reapply.

You should of had enough evidence in there, it sounds like more then we put in.

PersonalClown · 17/08/2009 15:37

Wasn't him!!
I've got Scoliosis and my back went Saturday afternoon. As it moved out of place, it trapped a nerve and started compressing it till I was in agony and couldn't move my left leg.
Had to have it manipulated to move the nerve out before damage was done.

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 17/08/2009 15:47

Do you do the AS friends group @ cc?

J (7, autism, ADHD) gets higher care and high mobility but only after a very long scrap (and Tribunal) with DWP...who later accepted that they were wrong and paid compensation but it did all take about 18 months to sort!

That's probably why you were told there's no way of knowing. Last year, a muppet from DWP read J's form on reconsideration (I was appealing against middle rate care) and decided that he wasn't entitled to any award as he had normal intelligence and therefore should require no more care than another child his age. I was ...as I had sent J's Statement (full-time one to one and lots of info on there about the violence etc.) and a letter from CAMHS totally backing me.

The irony was that, when I first claimed for him, pre-dx(s), got middle care and low mobility no problem. It was only after the renewal that things all kicked off. It depends who reads the reports etc. etc.

Sorry - off-track rant there but my point is that you never know what they will award. You have to find out what rate your child is entitled to and then not accept anything less. The Tribunal was so so worth doing and I will do that again if J's award is ever under what it should be.

Good luck, by the way.

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 18/08/2009 10:05

givemesleep, thats madness, but glad you got it sorted. I had help filling in the form and they put so much more than I would have put and put in things i never considered as dd is our eldest and its always been that way iyswim

I hope they hurry up though, i cant be doing with anymore fighting for something, im all worn out

good luck!

Our very first one with DS1, there was very little 'evidence' available, except for chatting with his specialist paed (14yrs ago ADHD wasnt well known there was next to no help/therapies/ specialists) and it took 18wks to to award high care/low mobility (correct award, he could not be left alone when awake, which was often thru the night).

Recently, DS5 who has GDD, autism, brain damage, learning difficulties, non-verbal, food allergies, pica, hypermobility, lack of awareness/danger and still in nappies. Complete with every report you could imagine from every specialist going, and it still took just over 12wks to award!

We are still waiting on award for DS4 who has aspergers (with written Dx) and every report going, who want another written report from OT, paediatrician and one from his teacher! (like she has to put up with a 3hr bedtime routine and several wakenings, and ending each day in a 5am start!) . We have been waiting 8wks so far...

SooPee · 18/08/2009 23:29

Deffinately give them a call, my sons came through pretty quickly - within a few weeks and that was around christmas. He has ADHD and ASD.

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 19/08/2009 00:04

We get higher rate for dd2 (ASD) ,we got this first time, we were only expecting middle but due to her sleep problems they gave us higher.

Dd1 (AS) gets middle rate.

We had dd2's 3 weeks after sending off the forms but dd1's took 6 weeks.

HecatesTwopenceworth · 19/08/2009 08:08

Both mine get higher rate care and lower rate mobility (now! at first ds2 only got care because of his age but we reapplied and he was awarded mobility too). It took a few weeks to come through. I did give them a LOT of examples of problems! and finished off by inviting them to come and see for themselves!

I'm pretty sure that ds2 is actually entitled to higher rate mobility, but tbh I've enough on without fighting over that! So I'm just going to leave it until renewal.

asdx2 · 19/08/2009 12:19

my ds 14 gets high care and high mobility and dd gets high care low mobility. Had to fight for high mobility and can't face fighting again so not tried for dd.
