DS 2 cannot start school in september

We now have to wait until january because the adaptions they ahve to make for him will not be ready in time

I know he doesn't have to start legally until easter, but his best friend at nursery is starting in sept, and I really wanted them to start together, to give ds confidence in the new environment. The school are v disappointed that he can't start when we both wanted him too, and have said he can come in for extra visits if we stay with him, but it isn't really the same.

I am now worrying that his bf will hook up with someone else in the meantime and ds will struggle to make friends

:/ this might sound blatantly ridiculous but could you not talk to bf's parents? Or do they have to start sept?

All I can say is go and do the visits where poss and I really don't think he'll struggle to make friends. Keep inviting his BF over to play whenever you can as well.

think the parents would want him to start when he is supposed to, he is one of twins, and tbh it would be a bit cheeky to ask them to delay him starting!

They need to do about 40k worth of physical alterations to enable ds2 to get about the school, health and safety etc.

Nursery have said they will still have him, so he will have somewhere to go, but his mates wont be there.

Oh lou that's awful They have had plenty of notice about ds coming to the school.
I am sure it will not affect his friendship though. hugs bhxxxxxx

they havent really had that much notice, we only found out his first choice school was not suitable in nov, and then we were heading to thailand, so it was jan before we got to see the one he is going to attend now. Seems like a long time, but they had to have surveys done and tenders put out, then teh builders have to give quotes, they need to pick one, fit a date in to start etc....

just disappointed that's all.

Just keep in contact with his best mate and make sure they still see each other as much as poss and it'll all be ok in the end hon.

Just saw this Lou, sorry for you and your ds. You can only do your best to keep the friendship going in the meantime until he can start. I wish I could say something more comforting. It seems as if you cannot "relax" about it until he starts in Easter--hopefully you can get some visits in during the first "semester". XO Sunny

What issues are there? Presumably wheelchair access/ramp and disabled toilets? Can you do the extra visits and leave him in the class but remain on the premises? Is there any way he can attend part time with the way the facilities are at the moment/willbe in September?

So sorry to read this Lou , must be a big disappointment. I'm sure you'll do everything you can to keep up his friendship with his BF. I drove past the Bobath yesterday and, silly moo that I am, strained and squinted to see if I could see you prancing around inside! Did it go well, despite the ag or toing and froing?

it went well davros, tho he was a bit of a monkey, being stroppy and refusing to do stuff, but we got him thorugh it. One more week to go, but dh is doing it alone, because it is half term and i have to watch the kids. Nightmare traffic on the way back though.
