Wheelchair friendly day at Hampton Court

Hi hope this is the right place to post this.

Took my mum out today, she is wheelchair dependent, we went to Hampton Court I was so pleased with it, we could get in to almost everything, (with the exception of one of the gardens) ramps everywhere, lifts to the upper floors, staff were lovely, helpful and spoke to mum not over her to me with the assumption that if you have a leg cut off you also go deaf.

I would recommend it as a day out for anyone with a chair.

Do you know what, I can not believe you have not had any replies! This is excellent stuff to pass on and thank you as I was wondering about having a family day out at Hampton Court, I myself am a creaky mummy!

I just wanted to say thank you. Please keep me posted on good days out. I want to compile places that are nice for families to go that are wheelchair friendly. You are a star x A tip I can pass on to you is there is The rough Guide to accessible Britain. That is well worth the money and I believe, don't quote me on this until I have checked with good old Mr Amazon, there is a rough guide to accessible family days out which I shall have to check out.

I have a blog so you can contact me through that or just keep posting on here because you will have made a difference to someone like me who now feels less scared about traipsing to Hampton Court and giving it a go.

Hi, I've just joined mumsnet. It's great to see a positive about wheelchair access. My son uses one and sometimes places can be brilliant and others rubbish. Sadly not all places give adequate information to be able to assess how good they will be. I have set up a web directory giving lots of links. I have included days out trying to identify where on a place to visit's website where their access information can be found. Like you I want to help others find all the good ones as well as get the not so good to change. Not all the published guides have checked out the information they display, as I have found to my cost. I hope you find my directory useful and would love to work to improve things
